Industry approach · Local services

Customers ask Doubao “which one nearby is reliable”.
How do you get your business into the answer?

Make sure AI assistants such as Doubao and DeepSeek can read your business and get it right when they answer: name, address, phone, opening hours, licenses and services written the same way on your website and every platform; then one clear page answering each of the few questions customers really ask. Businesses that already have a local reputation, in areas with few similar businesses, are the easiest place to start.

What buyers ask AI · examples
Which dental clinic in Nanshan District is reliable for implants?

Is there a vet clinic nearby that is open late at night?

How much per square meter does a partial-package home renovation usually cost?

A driving school near the metro with weekend practice

What is this clinic like? Is it reliable?

How customers ask

Many people now simply ask AI on their phones: which one nearby is good, roughly how much, is it reliable. The examples above are written from common phrasings; they are not measured search volumes. When we work for you, the questions come from what your front desk and customer service are asked every day.

Types of questions local customers ask AI, and what we do first
Question typeExampleWhat we do first
Finding one nearbyWhich dental clinic in Nanshan District is reliable?Name, address, opening hours and services written the same way on the website and every platform; one page for each service you actually offer
Asking about priceRoughly how much is a dental implant; partial-package renovation cost per square meterState the price list or price range, and what is and is not included
Asking whether it is reliableWhat is this place like?Licenses, years in business, and the practicing credentials of doctors or tradespeople spelled out; reviews only from real customers
Explainers and concernsDoes wisdom tooth extraction hurt; should a vomiting dog go to the vetExplainer pages only explain and do not promote your own services; this matters most for medical businesses

Where AI finds its answers

Local customers ask Doubao most, but also DeepSeek, Yuanbao, ERNIE and Kimi. Chinese platforms fall into two groups: those open to outside AI crawlers, and those that only feed their own company’s model. Where your content sits decides which AI assistants can read it.

Sources for local businesses: whether AI can read them, and what to do
SourceCan AI read it?What to do
Your websiteYes, provided crawlers are not blocked and the body text is right in the pageInclude name, address, phone, opening hours, licenses, prices and FAQs; host in mainland China, with the ICP filing under your own business entity
Toutiao account, Douyin accountThe API version of Doubao’s web search can be set to use Toutiao and Douyin as sources; whether the app uses the same setup, and how much weight they carry, we have not verifiedPublish the same set of facts, without changing the numbers
WeChat official accountClosed to outside crawlers; only Yuanbao can use it, through Tencent’s own indexPublishing there helps only with Yuanbao
XiaohongshuAlmost entirely closed to AI crawlersKeep using it to win customers as before; do not count on it to get you into AI answers
BaijiahaoOpen only to Baidu’s crawlerFeeds only ERNIE
Business pages on map and review platformsWe have not yet checked these platforms’ rules for AI crawlersFirst make the information match your website exactly

Many stores have only Meituan, Dianping, Douyin and a WeChat official account, with no website. There are few places AI can read directly, and we cannot use the AIV score for acceptance, so these businesses start with a simple website.

What to do first

Baseline20 questions × 5 AI assistants

Each question is asked at least twice: how many businesses the answer names, whether you are among them, where you rank, and whether anything about you is wrong. If you have a website, we also score it once with the open-source rubric.

Unify the factsOne version on every platform

Name, address, phone, opening hours and licenses, all aligned across the website, maps, review platforms and your own accounts.

Find the questionsLess crowded ones first

Start where the answers name few businesses and you are already strong: your best service, in the area where your store is.

Write answer pagesOne page per service

Question, direct answer, prices, FAQs. If you have a few locations, write only those locations; no pages for districts where you have no store.

Sync your own accounts, re-test monthlyChanges show over weeks

Your Toutiao and Douyin accounts publish the same set of facts; every month the 20 questions are asked by hand in one round and written into the monthly report, and the AIV score is re-tested monthly.

To find out how many customers come from AI, the cheapest way is for the front desk to ask, “How did you hear about us?” The customer answers first, then the front desk ticks a box; the options include “Doubao” and “Other AI”. Do not ask “Did you see us on Doubao?”, because that skews the answer. Look only at how the proportions change, and do not treat them as exact counts.

What to watch in this industry: writing limits

Content on your website and your own accounts that introduces your services is advertising, and China’s Advertising Law (2021 amendment) applies. We follow the points below for every page we write.

MedicalArticle 16

Dental, eye, aesthetic, cosmetic surgery and traditional Chinese medicine clinics: no assertions or guarantees about efficacy or safety, no cure or effectiveness rates, no comparisons with other medical institutions, no recommendations or endorsements from patients or spokespeople. So no before-and-after photos, and no “zero risk” or “no scarring”.

Explainers do not sellArticle 19

No disguised medical advertising in the form of health or wellness information. Explainer pages only explain: no promotion of your own services and no booking links inside them.

Non-medical businessesArticle 17

Wellness centers, therapy shops and other businesses that are not medical institutions may not claim to treat illness or use medical terms. Neither “relieves insomnia” nor “treats cervical spondylosis” can be written.

All industriesArticle 9

No terms such as “national-level”, “highest grade” or “best”. And no fake positive reviews, no invented customer stories, no posting while posing as a customer.

FAQ

Not listed here? Ask us by email or on Telegram.

We only have Meituan and Douyin, no website. Can you work with that?

Yes, but first we build a simple website, for an extra US$1,190. The first quarter counts from the day you sign. ICP filing takes a few weeks, and during that time we run the diagnostic, align your information across platforms and write content for your own accounts, so the quarter is not spent waiting.

Can you promise we will be number one on Doubao?

No. Nobody can. The ranking is up to the AI; ask the same question as a different person, or two days later, and the recommended businesses may differ. What we do is make sure AI can read you and get your details right, and acceptance is by AIV score; whether you are named and where you rank, we record and show you every month.

How do we know whether customers come from AI?

Front-desk source logging: when customers arrive or call, ask how they heard about you, with Doubao and other AI among the options. The numbers will have gaps and mistakes, so we look only at how the proportions change, alongside the monthly sampling results.

Can you work with aesthetic medicine, cosmetic surgery or traditional Chinese medicine?

Yes. Content is written within the limits for medical advertising: no promised results or cure rates, no comparisons with other providers, no before-and-after photos or customer testimonials, and no selling on explainer pages.

How long before we see changes?

Aligning information and fixing the website take a few days to a few weeks; new pages have to wait for AI to crawl them, and it takes a few weeks before you can tell whether they are cited. That is why we work by the quarter and show you the sampling results once a month.
